Name: HexDash

Genre: Turnbased Action Game
Artstyle: stylised Sci-Fi

Engine: Unity

My Role: Level Designer/General Design

HexDash was my very first Game Development Project and while the trailer doesn't reflect the final version, I am very proud of the final quality and I encourage you to try it for yourselves.

The idea for HexDash came from a shared love of the original Matrix movie and its iconic action scenes, like the elevator lobby showdown scene. We wanted to recreate the feeling of seeing Neo and Trinity dodging bullets in slow motion and creating anarchy. Combining this idea with the turn-based strategy inspired by chess, we began imagining a sci fi world were the player narrowly dodges bullets and creates action and chaos in office settings, to enhance the action. The idea began to grow and develop almost on its own as I believe we generated a unique and exciting concept.

As this was my first group project, initially I found it very hard to find my place within the team. I struggled to find my voice within the group setting and this lead to some friction within the team. To solve this issue, I began discussing my ideas on a few one on one talks with other team members and very quickly this helped me gain the footing I needed to feel confident and make a positive impact on this project.

Below is a gameplay video and a trailer that will give you a better understanding of the project
